As a coach , you will be hearing your client’s hopes, dreams and desires and them sharing with you what their envisioning their dream life to be. It’s going to be your task to hold space for them to explore this and to allow them the breathing room to tap into their inner knowing on how to take the steps towards that goal.
Together you will look at creative and doable ways to reach these goals, or even tweak these aspirations. And it all begins with manifesting some changes in their lives.
So you will begin the becoming a coach journey by manifesting some changes in your own life so you can create the space to allow the dream to become a coach to flow into your reality.
The first step of manifesting.
I like to consider myself a bit of a master manifester (a masta-fester?), and from what I have experienced over and over again is that the trick is to begin by creating some space around you so you can release what is no longer serving and begin welcoming in new opportunities and positive changes.
Look around your physical surroundings. Ask yourself – what’s dragging me down? What is no longer serving me?
For instance, it’s just about springtime in my neck of the woods. Now might be time for a good time for me to get a spring cleaning. Perhaps a garage sale or a clothing swap is due. Just make a big gesture to the world, “I am ready to welcome in a new chapter.”
Another example, I’m just on the heels of wrapping up a volunteer opportunity in my kid’s class that was SO fun but also took up alot of time away from my work. I can include stepping out of future volunteer positions for the rest of the year so I can fill up that space with activities that will bring me closer to my career goals.
Create space within with deeper self-care practices.
To be a coach is to be an intuitive on some level. That is a muscle that takes exercise, but it needs to wake up with some deep attention via self-care rituals.
With opportunity for more rest, movement, nourishment and community with nature time, we can gain extra access to our inner knowing, our intuition, so we cna be more self-assured as to what our next steps are to take toward our dream days. And speaking of dream days…
Step into the daydream machine.
This one is one of my favourite coaching tools. To step in, you gotta tune in and tune out. Literally, you can simply lay on the couch, or sit on your meditation cushion. Butt I like to lie on the couch and slack-jaw, and just go away for a little while, and see yourself with detail on how your days are going to look like as a coach.
Releasing.
As we create space, we’re also letting go of other commitments, other projects that are just aren’t serving us in this chapter of our lives.
This is a magical way of declaring that it’s time to devote more time into what’s going to get us closer to our coaching dream. This might look like getting coaching training. Or deeper research into theĀ potential coaching niche you’re interested in. Taking the next step will unveil the perfect next step for you to take. Over and over again.
I encourage you to take a look around your space and see what can you let go of in perhaps a symbolic level or in a practical level that is part of your pre-becoming a coach life and see how it opens up new space.
For example, right on the cusp of me really launching my coaching career, I sold all of my Etsy shop fixings. I used to have an Etsy shop where I sold hand spun yarn. We had a garage sale. All the spinning wheel, my carting machine, my fluff, everything, my books on spinning, just sold it to this really cute couple who came up the driveway and sold it all to them in one swoop.
That was a big declaration to the universe, to myself and my family. Time for this mama to dive in head first into the coaching biz.
