Lean on your why for wanting to become a coach.
Think of those future clients just chomping at the bit to get to work with you. A beautiful way to remember your why is to meditate on that hazy image of who it is you want to serve with your new found coaching skills. And think of how she is just sitting there waiting for you and the relief your support will bring to her.
Apply whatever has worked in the past when you felt fearful to this.
Listen in as a I share how I apply growing up with a very fashion forward (like five years forward) seamstress mom has helped me hone this skill. You can use just about any challenging, slightly traumatize experience from your past to move forward with courage.
Try some jedi-mind tricks by tapping into your subconcious.
Visuals help as reminders. Make a vision board. Or write out a quote that speaks to Your around fear and put it somewhere, journal about it, write a blog post, get it written out in fancy font from an Etsy lettering person. Do what you need to do to feel prepared.
Strengthen Your coaching skills – practicing, offer free coaching for a limited time, get extra training. At the end of each session asked what was your client’s favorite part of the session. Keep a folder of these so you can read them, and testimonials when you’re feeling shy. Back to the puppy friend. The fear was mostly around if there is a naughty dog situation, lower the chances of that with puppy training.
Hire a coach yourself.
Someone in your corner to remind you of your awesome and what you need to do next to keep up that awesomeness
Feel the fear and take action anyway.
Explore the worst case scenario. To do this, let’s lean on the second pillar of mama bliss and let’s get creative with what’s the worse thing that could happen here. Journal and write out worse case scenarios of what will happen if you do whatever it is that’s scaring you – becoming a coach, offering a retreat, taking a coaching training program, letting your email subscribers know you’re doing this, your first paid coaching call. And then get super ridiculous about it. Is this really going to happen. And if did, will you survive?
Turn this fear into excitement instead.
Allow this sensation to fuel your fire. Appreciate the fact that often these feelings allow us to dig into our edge. In fact, don’t use the word scared. Use exciting.
Remember that the world is good.
And it’s full of kind people who are rooting for you. Right before I walked on stage to talk to 3000 people at World Domination Summit, Chris Guillebeau himself offered these words I’ll treasure forever backstage right before on walked out there covered in a lovely outfit made up of half snake/half cheetah print (rahr). I like to think we attract the energy we put out. Put out love and intention to be helpful and you’ll return only love back. And worse comes to worse, ignore the rest!
This feeling, you’re feeling? Only temporary.
As you take babysteps, the fear moves. And next time a similar situation presents itself, you’ll have the tools and strategies in your back pocket.
