Are you day dreaming about becoming a coach because the imaginings of it to be a pretty sweet set up for a mom who wants to work from home?
Well, I have good news for you, mama. That’s just the tip of the love iceberg that makes up my days as a mom coach and mom coach trainer!
Not to get too obnoxious but I want share with you today why I love being a coach, how it meshes with many aspects of my freedom-loving mama self and how this love fuels my drive to continue growing my business while also milking all the bliss that this one life has to offer.
Because really, how lucky are we that we are born into these times that technology allows up to work from home in this capacity? I’m talking about the three F’s: freedom, fulfillment and fun!

I’m a people pleaser.
I know, not the healthiest sounding declaration in the world, but stay with me here. I really love to help. I love making people smile and knowing that I had a small part in helping them get to a point of smiling more often, and on a regular basis makes me smile. It’s a vicious smile-y cycle.
Luckily, being a coach, I’m aware, and have the tools to content with people pleasing side effects so can coach myself back to clear and firm boundaries. And when I feel them wavering (which is easy to tell because that’s when I’m prone to crabbiness, impatience, anxiousness – generally being not-so smiley) I know to coach myself back into my boundary-making dojo.
I don’t have to go anywhere I don’t want to.
As much as I’ve been a people pleaser , I’ve also always been a bit of a hedonist. This originated from my favorite part of being pregnant. Satisfying those food cravings rocked my world! Never been the same since.
Since then, I’ve always been drawn to do is go to where my bliss leads me. And these days, my bliss leads me to stay put. Right here at my home base that I love.
I’m a home body, but sometimes my bliss leads me to work out of the coffee shop for a change of scenery. And that just so happens to be where I’m typing this right now!
And once in a while I’ll take myself on a Mama-only retreat at a local-ish airbnb and I spent a weekend getting caught up on admin stuff or a head way on content creation. I love these excursions. But only love if I’m in the mood to do so. I don’t like being told where to go and being at specific places at specific times.
I love waking up each morning.
I know that might sound weird. As much as I love sleeping, I have no problems getting out of bed in the mornings because I look forward to getting to the coaching task at hand.
I squeeze my pup, make a coffee and start working for an hour or so before it’s time to wake up the kids.
And what do I get to look forward to each day? Connecting and coaching mamas out there who are seeking the bliss of becoming a coach to themselves. And I love figuring out in what ways feels blissful, effective and sustainable to grow my audience reach and ensure moms out there who are seeking coaching training just for moms learn that I exist. That’s called marketing, yo!
I love the freedom.
I had the freedom during the week to chaperone a kid’s field trip. The no biggie if a kid has to stay home from school because they’re feeling under the weather. These days the kids are on summer holiday and they’re chilling in the house like I did when I was growing up. But come 2:00 and the sun comes down some (day-glo white kiddos in this casa) I can close shop and head to the beach.
I do still have to orchestrate some activities for them but for the most part they’re at an age where they can amuse themselves. I just need to drive sometimes to friends’ houses and feed them a few times a day. Other than that… freedom!
I’m a bit on the bossy boss side.
All of this, again, it all kind of has a theme going on here, but basically, um, I like having control.
Maybe it’s a bit of my authority issues showing but I love getting to call the shots. I work collaboratively well with others is just that there’s something in my nature. that makes me realize I hit the life Jackpot finding this calling that has allowed me to get to wear the boss hat all jaunty-like on my head.
I get bored easily.
After University I worked five years in advertising agencies. While that was fun, I found myself pretty bored by the administrative grunt work and bureaucracy after a while.
The least boring part about coaching is probably the coaching session itself. Especially Mama Bliss Coaching! We get to use creativity coaching tools, role-playing, ask thought-provoking, small questions, and deeply connect with amazing moms located all over the planet.
It’s truly fulfilling feeling on a deep level. And it’s fun. There’s lots of laughs, there’s lots of powerful moments. And even the semi-boring tasks aren’t too bad because you get to make it your own.
For example, bookkeeping. I had a bookkeeper on my team until recently because I actually started to almost miss doing it myself!
Not because it’s my idea of a good time but because it’s a fun shift in gears (caveat: I do have an account who is ensuring all my eyes are doted and tees are crossed). It was just that I did it in a way that worked and made sense to my abstract random brain so that I can see the big picture I was able to see what was working and how my efforts were actually getting a decent return on investment.
This is what I dream for for my kids.
When I mull over the question, what do I hope for my kids?
Other than for them to be happy, healthy, loved and loving, what I wish for them (and especially for my daughter because I feel that I’m most certainly grateful for the way working from home as a coach meshes so beautiful with being a mom) is that they find a career path as three F-y as this: fun, free and fulfilling.
And it’s kinda wild – dreaming this dream this for another, especially someone you love so much, and getting to live it yourself while you’re dreaming it. It’s literally living the dream.
