If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I’m a bit of a homebody to put it lightly. But, I’ve been emerging out of my shell more and more over the last couple of years.
Since I’ve began selling Young Living Essential Oils, I’ve been motivated more to hit the road to spread the word of these plant-based miracles and the empowering way they can be use to naturally enhance your family’s wellness.
And while I’ve been have been having fun doing this by myself over the last six months, I decided to lug along the Craig and the kids with me and turned it into a camping trip.
Of course I brought along the oils to share along the way with pre-arranged essential oil parties at different towns, but they also came in handy when some inevitable car ride adventures sprang up.
Speaking of springing up…
Kale got carsick.
As soon as I heard him complaining, ‘Oh, mama, I don’t feel so good’, I pulled out the peppermint essential oil, rolled up a couple of squares of toilet paper, dropped a couple of drops in, and shoved it into the air vent. We turned on the air and it was just like insta-diffuser magic. The peppermint oil worked its wonders and it helped ease his belly and my vomit-in-the-car-type fears.
Camping type annoyances.
At one stop, we were putting away the tent just as we started getting chowed down by mosquitoes. I brought along some of my carrier oil – because, safety first – then had the kids hold out their hands as I squirt a little puddle in the palm of their hands and then dropped a drop of purification. Instantly, the critters left us alone.
That brought a lot of relief for all of us. Especially to the family because I’m a screamer when the skeeters attack.
Airbnb = Air Bed n Burn
We got some reprieve from that camping business and I booked us some Airbnb action. That was so awesome. We did that in Portland. That was my high point of the trip, other than hugging my Mama Bliss coaches, of course.
I was making myself my latte in the morning in the kitchen of the hosts and, for some reason, there was a silver bowl on the back burner beside where I put my little espresso maker on the stove top. When I was getting ready to pour the espresso machine, I moved that silver bowl and it was hot.
It was a very non-Mama Blissful moment when it was like, “Bleep! That ‘bleeping’ hurt! Where’s the lavender essential oils?!’? Luckily, it wasn’t too far. Luckily, it also relaxes pre-latte nerves.
Yes, I immediately put cold water on there and then just dropped some lavender oil. Yeah, good as new. Even better once latte finally was made.
Mama needs a massage time.
When we were in the last leg of our trip and I could feel the tension of being in the car and sleeping in a tent add up. At the hotel we stayed at at the final part of the trip, I pulled out that carrier oil, mixed it in a couple with a couple of drops of lavender and frankincense essential oils again declared a family massage time.
Nobody took me up on it, but that’s okay. I just massaged myself. That was really nice.
Amusement park trauma.
My little girl was very excited about doing the roller coaster. She did it, the brave little thing, the one that corkscrewed. She came out of it with her face just glowing, the hugest smile and skipping. She was like, “Let’s do more roller coasters!”
I figured the next one on the list was wooden so that made it a little Waldorf-y for my Waldorf kids.
While she was really stoked to go for it,? she came off of that one a little, shall we say, different? It was a little traumatizing for her, sadly.
I gave her some rescue remedy – the go-to I always have on me when upsets happen. Then when we got home, I pulled out? a resource book (which by the way is also available as an app) I love and? looked up ‘trauma’.
Thankfully, I had the essential oil on hand it called for – Release. Funny enough, I’ve been using it as part of my ritual for my own Mama Bliss. I have it diffusing in my office throughout the day.
That night, I gave her a foot massage using that and I shared with her, “This is just going to help let it go. Let it go.”
She seems a lot better. I like to take care of these sorts of growing pains from all angles.
There you go. Essential oils have saved this Mama Bliss road tripping butt.
Okay, Mamas! Happy summer road tripping to you! Don’t forget to bring your tools and we’ll talk to you next time.
