For me, being part heavy metal (that is, according to elemental Chinese Medicine), fall is the time of year my bliss comes back alive.
Ah, grief. My over-ruling emotion as a heavy metal.
(I know it’s just metal but the heavy bit keeps me connected to my head banger roots.)
I’ve been mourning a few things. The spring kicked off with a death in the family. And then in the summer I have taken on a day job which is super groovy and right up my spreading the bliss ally. But I’m mourning letting go of the beautiful home body work from home set up I created here.
While the gig is so amazing and perfect for me, I had to let go of some of my offerings including a few coaching packages, travel plans and turn down the tap on my BIG idea machine that is my noggin.
Now with the kiddos back at school there has recently been another new normal to get use to and what has helped me I hope can help you too.
First I began meditating on my values.
And decided which ones I’m going to focus on for the next few months. This felt doable and proactive. I decided to put my nose on Craig’s grindstone and work extra hard on my marriage and finance. (That first bit sounded a little heavy metal for sure.)
Next, I connected with Craig about what his top priorities and values are right now.
Got us back on team time.
We even got us some counseling to help us work on our communication skills. And then we celebrated our commitment to keeping Team Awesome alive by watching the first ever episode of The A Team together.
And finally, I checked in with the kids.
Not talking too much about things but just gently prodding how they are with the new normal. Totally fine. More so in fact. Like almost giving me a complex super fine with it. We have indeed entered a new season.
So I lean on my Simplicity Parenting Coaching roots to remind me to check in with simplicity levels in our home environment, our daily routine, our values and information/screen time.
And the rhythm piece in particular has saved my easily vexed butt more than once over the years.
It was quite the trip going through all these videos when life in retrospect looked so ridiculously simple back out at the farm where we never really had to leave (we were homeschooling, grew much of our own food, didn’t really have to drive anywhere expect the local corner grocery store to get what we need and propane). But the principles can be applied to the parenting and lifestyle season we’re in today.
To give you a taste, go ahead and check out the four videos below that walk you through the steps to build a daily rhythm you can instill in your home life today that might bring some ease if you’re still struggling to get back into the simplicity swing of things.
And what if when you’re done with that and feel you may want to go a bit deeper?
Here’s where to grab the take me up on my Rhythm Maker coaching session. I’ll help you get this all planned out on beautifully laid out printable so you can just do what your daily and weekly schedule tells you to do so you can make you can invite the bliss of simplicity AND productivity to your lazy hazy fall daze.
Awesome! Got my bliss bongo out – let’s create a fall rhythm for you now:
