Simplicity Celebration Tuesday ~ Zoo Rules

Look how our chickens are flourishing since we switched them over to their antibiotic and hormone therapy treatments. Kidding!

We’re on the road and visiting my family in the big city!

It takes a lot of love to get me to want to leave the homestead.

I’m a homebody at the best of times but currently there are a lot of projects on the farm that need to be tackled or literally birthed.

Miss Daisy, for instance,  is looking incredibly ripe and floppy in the vulvic area these days.  She’s not due to have her baby until August 6th officially but it turns out with a cow you just never know. We’re just crossing our fingers now that we won’t get a call from the dog/cow sitter telling us to hightail it back home but look at me talking like a hick all of a sudden! See what Cowtown does to me?

But now that I’ve been successfully peeled away from my comfort zone, I’m getting into this family visiting thing. Nothing like arriving at your mama’s house with your brothers and their families around to remind you why this usually annual pilgrimage is made and is inexplicably nourishing.

It’s a process surrendering to that carefree vacation mindset. But after a family visit to the zoo yesterday I got inspired by:

That them there lessons them critters taught me there.

Ack! That hick talk again!

1. Relax and let it all hang out. Like that big guy up there. If you look close enough. Very impressive.

2. Pack light.  You need only a pair of panties each day you’re away plus one fabulous ensemble. Everything else is bonus. Plus you can always visit a thrift store for whatever you forgot. (Okay fine, I admit it! I went to American Apparel but I really needed a pair of jeggings since visiting Portland this spring!)

3. Simply just be together. Even if it means if you can only congregate once or twice a year. In the brief time you share ~ play and be.

4. Remember how adorable you are. As you relax, accessorize, play and be together, your authentic self with emerge and be revealed to your kin again. Might be a messy process at first as you leave your comfort zone but you’ll get there. And then you’ll discover you will be taken under the wing of your family’s love and realize you utterly loveable just the way you are.

We had a great time with you and the kids! We never go to the zoo unless we have grandchildren in town. So much fun! Looking forward to coming to see you in a few weeks :)
